In 2022 our nieces, Charlyn Griffith-Oro &
Jeannine Kayembe-Oro asked us if we would allow them to make a short film about our lives.

We obliged the offer and had a beautiful time working with a thoughtful crew of young, Black creative people.

There has been a small impact campaign centered on private community screenings. And we have had the pleasure of doing Q & A about our short-form climate documentary with Patagonia & Black Girl Environmentalist in Alexandria, VA and at Somewhere Good in Brooklyn, NY!

The film has been accepted into Bush & OutSouth Film Festivals, LA Queer Film Festival AND we celebrated our WORLD premier at BlackStar Film Festival in Philadelphia on August 4th, 2023!

We are very excited about the production of a full-length version of our story, expected in Fall 2024.

Watch the trailer for The Aunties below!

β€œThe Aunties (film) shares the story of Black land stewards & culture bearers Donna Dear and Paulette Greene.

Told alongside the lands of The Underground Railroad, this historic tale also interweaves the indelible legacies of Harriet Tubman and Mt. Pleasant Acres Farms.”
